Privacy Policy

InstaView ("we", "our", or "us") provides a free toolkit for viewing publicly available Instagram data anonymously. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use getinstaview.com (the "Service"), how we use it, and how we protect it.

By using the Service you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy. If you do not agree, please stop using the Service.

We collect only the minimum data needed to operate the Service:

• Search queries — the Instagram usernames you look up. These are stored in an anonymized aggregate log to power analytics on our admin dashboard. Raw usernames are retained for up to 90 days then deleted automatically.
• Hashed IP address — your IP is immediately converted to a one-way hash before storage. We never store your raw IP address.
• Country code — derived from your IP at request time via Vercel's edge network (e.g. "US", "GB"). We do not store city or region.
• Tool used — which tool you used (e.g. "story-viewer", "engagement"). Used for aggregate statistics only.
• Browser / device information — standard HTTP headers such as User-Agent are processed by our hosting provider (Vercel) as part of normal web server operation. We do not log or store these ourselves.

We do not collect your name, email address, payment information, or any account credentials. We do not require registration or login to use the Service.

Collected data is used exclusively to:

• Monitor Service health and detect abuse (rate limiting, spam prevention)
• Generate aggregate statistics for our internal admin dashboard
• Improve tool performance and prioritise new features
• Display approximate search counts on the homepage (e.g. "2.4M profiles viewed")

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes. We do not build individual user profiles.

InstaView retrieves publicly available data from Instagram's public API on your behalf. We act as a pass-through — data is fetched, returned to your browser, and is not permanently stored on our servers beyond Vercel's short-lived edge cache (maximum 5 minutes, solely for performance).

We only display data that Instagram itself makes available to unauthenticated or public viewers. We do not access, display, or store data from private Instagram accounts.

Instagram profiles, posts, stories, and related content displayed through this Service remain the intellectual property of their respective owners and Instagram/Meta Platforms, Inc. InstaView claims no ownership over any Instagram content.

Use of this Service to stalk, harass, or monitor individuals without their consent is strictly prohibited and may violate applicable laws. See our Terms of Service.

InstaView uses only strictly necessary cookies and does not use third-party tracking cookies by default.

• No tracking pixels — we do not use Facebook Pixel, Google Tag Manager, or similar advertising trackers.
• Google AdSense — if ads are enabled, Google may set cookies on your device to serve personalised ads. You can opt out via Google Ad Settings.
• Local storage — we use your browser's localStorage to save your recent search history locally on your device only. This data never leaves your browser. You can clear it at any time by clearing your browser data.

The following third-party services are used to operate InstaView:

• Recent search logs — retained for 90 days, then automatically deleted.
• Aggregate counters (daily/weekly totals) — retained for 90 days.
• Username leaderboard (hashed search counts) — retained indefinitely for aggregate statistics.
• Cached Instagram API responses — Vercel edge cache, maximum 5 minutes.
• Local search history in your browser — stored only on your device, no server retention. Clear at any time via browser settings.

Because we do not collect identifiable personal data (we only store hashed IPs and anonymised search terms), we cannot link any stored record back to a specific individual.

If you are located in the EU/EEA (GDPR) or California (CCPA), you may have the right to:

• Request disclosure of what data we hold about you
• Request deletion of your data
• Object to data processing

To exercise these rights, contact us at privacy@getinstaview.com. Because data is anonymised, we may be unable to identify your specific records.

InstaView is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we will display a notice on our homepage. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
